Customer v. Consumer Debate
Can someone please explain to me why using “customer” instead of “consumer” will make any difference? Can someone explain why changing from “consumer” to anything else will make a substantial practical difference for consumers/customers?
I’m not asking how the two words are different or why customer is more precise – although I wouldn’t mind someone explaining how the actual day-to-day connotation is different to most people.
I’m asking: how will changing from consumer to customer cause a substantial shift in consciousness that will help consumers/customers? Why will this make a practical difference in consumers’/customers’ lives?
I’m not trying to ask this in an argumentative way – but I am rather skeptical of how this word choice will radically change things. So, please explain away – much obliged in advance.
