The New Yorker has a UI link to a category called “Online only” that has a URL directory level called “blogs”: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs. But that defaults to a series on New Orleans that ended in June. But the “more blogs” link below the BLOGS heading in the the top of the left column goes to http://www.newyorker.com/online/index/blogs, where there is a nice trove of stuff. The latest from George Packer is a good one.

PZ Myers in Pharyngula considers Male Pregnancy: It sounds feasible to me. Zygotes are aggressive little parasites that will implant just about anywhere in the coelom — it’s why ectopic pregnancies are a serious problem — so all we need to do there is culture a bit of highly vascularized tissue in the male abdomen that will serve as a secure home for a few months. We’ll have to play some endocrine games, too, which may effect his love life but will also prepare him to lactate post-partum. US Launches ‘MySpace for Spies’. Not a bad idea. One paragraph:

Thomas Fingar, the deputy director of national intelligence for analysis, believes the common workspace – a kind of “MySpace for analysts” – will generate better analysis by breaking down firewalls across the traditionally stove-piped intelligence community. He says the technology can also help process increasing amounts of information where the number of analysts is limited.

NYTimes: AT&Ts Overstuffed iPhone Bills Annoy Customers. Ms. Ezarik, 23, made a one-minute video that shows her flipping through the voluminous bill and posted it to YouTube and other video-sharing sites on Aug. 13. The video has since been viewed more than three million times. AT&T says it will send summary bills from now on.
