Says here your name is Zimmerman.

Suspicious white man reported in minority neighborhood:

Rock legend Bob Dylan was treated like a complete unknown by police in a New Jersey shore community when a resident called to report someone wandering around the neighborhood.

Dylan was in Long Branch, about a two-hour drive south of New York City, on July 23 as part of a tour with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp that was to play at a baseball stadium in nearby Lakewood.

A 24-year-old police officer apparently was unaware of who Dylan is and asked him for identification, Long Branch business administrator Howard Woolley said Friday.

“I don’t think she was familiar with his entire body of work,” Woolley said.

I know how he feels.

  1. Why is it this a big deal?

  2. Bet that was a shocker for him.

  3. It’s not a big deal. It’s a somewhat funny deal, and a minimal excuse for a non-serious blog post.

NJ police want to see some ID — 2 cops in their 20’s didn’t have a clue. Sad, sad, sad. The kids these days…. (via Doc) […]

  6. It’s a big deal because there are elements left out of Doc’s post. First, was Dylan wasn’t carrying ID. Second, there was a notice that someone escaped from a pscyh ward. Third, Dylan claimed to be bob dylan, a musician on tour. She puts him in back seat of car and takes him to where he says his tour busses are. She is blown away thinking that this is a joke. Then, he asks her to take him back. he was on his walk.
