David Ferriero, Co-Chair

David FerrieroArchivist of the United States
David S. Ferriero was sworn in as Archivist of the United States on November 13, 2009. Prior to his confirmation as Archivist, Mr. Ferriero was the Andrew W. Mellon Director of the New York Public Libraries. Mr. Ferriero was in charge of collection strategy; conservation; digital experience; reference and research services; and education, programming, and exhibitions. Before joining the NYPL in 2004, Mr. Ferriero served in top positions at two of the nation’s major academic libraries, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, and Duke University in Durham, NC. In those positions, he led major initiatives including the expansion of facilities, the adoption of digital technologies, and a reengineering of printing and publications.

John Palfrey, Co-Chair

John Palfrey is the co-author of “Born Digital: Understanding the First Generation of Digital Natives” (Basic Books, 2008), “Access Denied: The Practice and Politics of Internet Filtering” (MIT Press, 2008), and “Access Contested: The Shaping of Power, Rights, and Rule in Cyberspace” (MIT Press, 2010), among others. His research and teaching is focused on Internet law, intellectual property, and international law.

Meredith Doviak, Coordinator

Meredith DoviakSocial Media Specialist, National Archives & Records Administration
Meredith Doviak is part of the Social Media and Open Government team at the National Archives. In this role, she works with National Archives staff across the country to facilitate communication and promote the Agency and the records through various internal and external new media tools. Meredith received her MLS with a focus on Archival Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park and has a bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College.
