Ruby on Rails Workshop

Thanks to everyone who contributed and attended the workshop this October. We hope we were successful in hosting an attitude-free, newbie-safe and mama-friendly tech event encouraging women to join the Ruby on Rails community.

Women are a minority in most technical communities, but in open source communities the numbers are even smaller — by a factor of about ten or more.

Moving forward, we encourage our newly empowered programmers to meet monthly and use their skills towards open source projects in a welcoming, collaborative, mixed gendered environment.

Seeking Sponsors

The Berkman Center in coordination with the Center for Research on Computation and Society are providing the venue for the Ruby on Rails Workshop for Women.

But we need sponsors to help us offset childcare and AV costs as well as provide breakfast/lunch on Saturday.

Silver sponsor: $500

  • Your logo on the Gender and Tech and Berkman Center websites.
  • We’ll hand out your swag to attendees (flier, t-shirt, or small promotional item produced at your expense)

Gold sponsor: $1000

  • All of the above
  • Your logo appears more prominently on the website
  • You can send an attendee of any gender to be introduced and say a  few words at some point during the day
  • Post-workshop email to participants could include a promotional announcement (This would not provide access to the email list.  We would email on your behalf.)

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes! If you would like to help in offsetting the expenses by contributing individually or as an organization your tax deductible check can be made to:

    The Berkman Center
    23 Everett Street, 2nd Floor
    Cambridge, MA 02138

Please contact lleahy at cyber dot law dot harvard dot edu if you are interested in learning more about sponsorship.
