Canada vs. USA

Comparison of the health care systems in Canada and the United States are often made by government, public health and public policy analysts (especially in the run-up to American elections). But did you know that the two countries had very similar health care systems before Canada reformed its system in the 1960s?

    Because of the way the US health insurance industry has a lock on Congress, through lobbyists and money, will such a reform ever be possible in the United States? The Law School’s Lawrence Lessig, in his book “Republic, Lost,” has an only mildly encouraging answer to this question.
