News Databases

LexisNexis Academic provides access to thousands of newspapers from around the world. Select the browse link to filter by publication: news and to select specific countries or regions.

Factiva provides access to newspapers that can be browsed by country or region. To browse recent issues of popular publication by geographic region or country, select News Pages at the top of the screen, Factiva Pages, and then change the default search, United States to a different country or geographic region in the drop down menu.

Emerging Markets Information Service EMIS (formerly ISI Emerging Markets) provides current company information and business news from more than 500 sources for emerging markets in Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East-North Africa.

Regional Business News provides comprehensive full text for regional business publications. This database has full text for more than 50 sources. News wire services cover a number of difference geographic regions. Also, includes local city business newspapers in the United States and Canada.

Country Profile Databases

Economist Intelligence Unit provides country profiles and data. The information includes descriptions of the politics, economy, risk, regulation, and business environment, of a country.

Europa World: The Europa World Year Book Online provides information on countries and territories as well as profiles of international organizations

Oxford Business Group Country Reports are in-depth reports for 39 developing nations and sectors. Includes reports by country and industry. Click on news and views tab to search for economic updates by country.

Political Handbook of the World provides basic country-by-country data (e.g., population, languages) as well as detailed information about political history, politics, social movements, economics, and current issues.

Statesman’s Yearbook Online provides information on country officials, history, basic statistics and profiles of important cities. It also includes profiles of international organizations.
