OneSource Global Business Browser is now available at HKS Library

0

We are happy to announce that OneSource Global Business Browser, which includes a broad range of public and private company and industry information worldwide, is now available on HKS Library PCs via this link. Use it to create a list of companies by industry, location and/or size.

Other resources that allow you to create this type of list include:

  • Plunkett Research, which provides access to industry and company information, including public and private companies. It also provides market research and industry trends, industry statistics, company profiles, and downloadable tables. HKS alumni can access Plunkett Research via this link uniquely for HKS alumni.
  • Orbis, which is a global company database unique in its breadth of geographies and extent of company coverage, including private company financial information.
  • Lexis/Nexis Company Dossier, which provides tools to create lists of companies, executives and to locate industry information via its Get Company Info section.
The Harvard Library has also recently purchased a historical dataset on U.S. companies called Infogroup Historical Business Backfile, 1997-2014.

Graduating? Attend one of our Beyond Harvard: Public Policy Research as HKS Alumni workshops

0

As commencement approaches, we want to emphasize that HKS Library and Knowledge Services can serve as an important resource to you even after you graduate. Alumni have access to a number of databases including several with full-text scholarly articles and books. You may borrow books in-person with an HKS Alumni Library Card and access all Harvard-wide databases using our on-site guest computers. HKS librarians are also still here to help you and have created Beyond Harvard: Public Policy Research as HKS Alumni as a starting point.

Attend a 30-minute workshop this month to learn more about these resources:

Where: HKS Library Instruction Room (Littauer G14)

When:

  • Wednesday, May 11th at 12 p.m.
  • Friday, May 13th at 12 p.m.
  • Monday, May 16th at 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 18th at 3:30 p.m.

No registration required. Space is limited so attendance is first come, first served. If you are unable to attend these workshops, please e-mail library_research@hks.harvard.edu to make individual or group appointments with a member of our research staff.

New Library Resources Available for HKS Alumni

0

After graduation, librarians at the Harvard Kennedy School Library & Knowledge Services (LKS) remain available to help alumni. We have created this website to highlight resources available. For the past several years, we have also been offering a series of workshops late in the spring, just before commencement, titled Beyond Harvard: Public Policy Research as HKS Alumni.

Much of what we highlight in the workshop is freely available on the Internet, and graduating students attending are often astounded by what they can access. In the past, we have highlighted Academic Search Alumni Edition. Harvard Library has just announced a beta program for all Harvard alumni through which we are able to provide access to a number of licensed resources, including Academic Search Alumni Edition. You will no longer need to log in to this resource with a username and password, but instead will be able to access it along with other resources available to alumni with your HarvardKey.

All licensed databases now available are included on our Beyond Harvard: Public Policy Research as HKS Alumni website. Two resources newly available to alumni that are heavily used by the HKS community include JSTOR and ABI/Inform Complete. If you have trouble accessing or searching any of these databases, please Ask Us for assistance. We really enjoy working with HKS alumni and look forward to highlighting these resources for graduating students during our workshop series in the spring.
