We are pleased to announce that HKS Library & Knowledge Services has reopened and currently may be accessed as follows:

• From the Eliot Street entrance (via Belfer and Littauer). Follow the signs to the HKS Library.
• From the first floor of Littauer, take the stairs next to L150.
• Persons with accessibility issues should use the Rubenstein elevator to the ground floor and access the HKS Library through the back offices. This is a temporary. Elevator access to the ground floor of Littauer will be restored later this summer.

Stop by to view our new, more welcoming main desk, some new furniture, and a new soon-to-open study space.

Due to construction there will be limited access to HKS Library & Knowledge Services from June 1 – July 10.*

The Library will not be physically open for access, but you will still be able to:

• Check out books from the HKS Library: Please email titles to us at library_research@hks.harvard.edu. We will notify you by email when your books are available to be checked out. Books can be picked up in the Library staff offices via the back staircase in Littauer or the Rubenstein elevator.

• Check out books from other Harvard Libraries: Use the Request Item link in HOLLIS+ to pick up at another location. Gutman Library at the School of Education is the closest location.

• Receive assistance with printed or online course materials: Call for assistance 617-495-1372 or email: cmo@hks.harvard.edu. The course materials team will be available to assist you from the back of the library accessed from the back staircase in Littauer or the elevator in Rubenstein.

• Request research assistance from Library & Knowledge Services Librarians: Please call 617-495-1302 or email library_research@hks.harvard.edu.

*After May 31^st, please return items to another Harvard Library.

Please join the Library in welcoming Christina Sirois to HKS as the Library’s Manager of Digital Collections and Content. In this role, Christina will manage digital content activities and initiatives including the Course Materials team and process.

Christina comes to HKS from the Brattle Group, an international economics consulting firm, where she managed all facets of information resources and services as Manager of Information and Library Services.

Christina is looking forward to working and collaborating with faculty, staff and students across HKS. Please feel free to reach out to Christina to ask her questions related to digital content, course materials and taxonomy or to discuss any digital content projects or initiatives of interest to you and your department.

A selection of buttons from the Steven M. Rothstein  Political Buttons Collection is now on view in the Harvard Kennedy School Library. Located to the left of the circulation desk, the exhibition of buttons highlights female candidates, social justice causes and movements, and catty campaigns. Though the exhibit shows a fraction of the buttons in the collection, students and researchers interested in exploring the entire collection can find digital images of more than 1500 buttons in VIA.  The exhibit will be on view until November 10th.

We are happy to announce that installation of the new windows is complete, and our entire library is now open for use.

Harvard Staff photographer Stephanie Mitchell recently visited the HKS Library to photograph selected buttons from our Rothstein Political Buttons Collection to feature in her article in the Harvard Gazette, “Pinning their hopes on buttons: Political buttons trace political and social change.”

Please join us in welcoming Linda Rosen as the Library’s new Manager of Research and Knowledge Services.

Linda comes to us from Baker Library at the Harvard Business School (HBS) where she worked since 2008 as an Information Research Specialist. Linda provided research services to HBS students, faculty, staff, and alumni as well as managed and contributed to a diverse array of information related activities, including curated news updates, collections and content development, and innovation projects. In her new role at HKS, Linda will lead the delivery of research, instruction, and faculty services at the Library as well as help build and facilitate access to critical collections and content, increasingly digital and inter-disciplinary in scope, to advance research, teaching, and knowledge creation in key HKS policy domains. Linda will also work with colleagues across the School to investigate new models of discovery, dissemination, and management for HKS generated scholarship to increase impact and worldwide reach. Please feel free to drop by Linda’s office, Littauer G-3, to say hello and welcome her to HKS.
