I have created a database listing information about a wide variety of teaching and research fellowships and visiting assistant professorships at North American law schools. Paul Caron’s list of “Fellowships for Aspiring Law Professors (2009-10 Edition)” was a very helpful starting place for compiling this data–I’ve assembled a bit more information and have listed a few additional fellowships. Not included in this dataset are clinical fellowships (including clinical teaching fellowships) and fellowships that I know to be restricted to graduates of a particular law school. For Harvard affiliates, I have a dataset with slightly more information, including a listing of fellowships restricted to Harvard graduates or affiliates–please email me if you would like to obtain this expanded spreadsheet. This data is informational only; I have culled it from websites and responses to emails, and none of it, including listings of deadlines, is definitive. The data includes listing for several programs that have hired fellows or visiting assistant professors in past years but for which I have been unable to find current information. If you notice any errors please let me know. Additionally, if you would like me to add other programs the the listing, I’m happy to do so if you send me the following information about the program: school name, program name, whether applications are currently being accepted, when the program will next begin considering applications, when the deadline for applications falls (and whether there is any advantage to submitting an application prior to the deadline), the salary for the position, the duration of the appointment, the number of positions available, how to apply for the position, a description of the position, a link to a website with information about the program, and whether or not the program requires applicants to have post-JD experience and, if so, how much.
