More lobster sheet music

No quadrilles, but more lobster sheet music. Here are two pieces for piano, once again featuring ladies in large hats (see previous post)

SHEET MUSIC 402
La petite coquette (the little flirt)
By John S. Zamecnik
1913

Published in Cleveland … lobsters are an exotic menu item in Cleveland perhaps?

SHEET MUSIC 403
The lobster glide
By Malvin M. Franklin
1909

This one (tune) is from the incidental music from a play called The Girl from Rector’s. George Rector was a food writer and restaurateur, and the play was probably referring to his establishment Rector’s on Broadway, known for its celebrity patrons.

There are many strange facets to popular sheet music illustration; this is only a sample of the imagination, talent and pop culture sensibility present in the Historical Sheet Music Collections.
