We congratulate Nadezhda Kavrus-Hoffmann on the publication of the third and final installment of her Catalogue of Greek Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts in Houghton Library which has appeared in Manuscripta: A Journal of Manuscript Research 55.1 (2011), 1-108. Earlier installments appeared in the same journal: 54.1 (2010), 64-151 and 54.2 (2010), 207-274.
Kavrus-Hoffmann provides full scholarly descriptions for Houghton Library’s 32 codices and fragments written during the Byzantine and Renaissance periods. A number of these manuscripts were given by Edward Everett (1794-1865), President of Harvard from 1846-1849 and Philip Hofer (1898-1984), founder of the Department of Printing & Graphic Arts in Houghton Library.
This third installment also includes a description of a palimpsest in the Andover-Harvard Theological Library. Kavrus-Hoffmann is an independent scholar and her work was facilitated in part by a Houghton Library Short-Term Visiting Fellowship awarded in 2002-2003.
Kavrus-Hoffmann has also published in the same journal catalogues of Greek medieval and Renaissance manuscripts at Columbia University, the New York Public Library, the Morgan Library and Museum and smaller collections in New York City.
