Harvard Library Lifts Restrictions on Digital Reproductions of Works in the Public Domain

This is a big deal.

The Library will share, without restriction, all of its online resources that are not otherwise encumbered by license or copyright! (paraphrase)

This simple declaration will inform the development of Harvard Library’s digital library infrastructure: Systems must be made to accommodate unmediated sharing of public domain content; and the metadata for our digital resources will have to support the identification of what we may share. Hallelujah!
