If you think that time will change your ways…
November 7th, 2005 by MrLuxuryFashionGuruThe concert’s over, it went fairly well – the audience reports have been fairly positive, and I’m happy with how I sounded (though I’m sure I’ll revise my opinion when I hear the live recording).
All that’s left to do is to pick up the pieces: send my tails to be cleaned, collect all the ticket IOUs, tidy my disaster-area room, drop a couple of those late-night-rehearsal-with-junk-food pounds and play catch-up with my class assignments and required reading.
Starting now.

And just round the corner: Harvard-Yale weekend at Yale, a couple of days in New York (if the contract pans out) and off to Thanksgiving in Maine with Ryan, I just can’t wait.
Almost there

Just two days to the Fall Jam… I’m thankful and almost surprised that despite not really trying I’ve sold a goodly number of tickets. As long as I’m somewhere in the middle of the group I’ll be satisfied.
And I’ll still have to write that seminar essay and French paper. It never stops, does it?
A first time for everything
November 2nd, 2005 by MrLuxuryFashionGuruWhee!!! My complexion is teetering on the edge, my sleep cycles are nowhere near stable and for dinner tonight I ate mozerrella sticks, buffalo wings, buffalo strips, nachos, fried calamari and french fries. Plus I had a chocolate brownie a la mode for dessert. And this was at 10.30pm.
But who cares, because I got a solo to sing at the Dins concert! My first one! Yay! And I’m extra glad that it’s a short, musically simple song that’s more or less in the best part of my range. Plus it has a great Din pedigree too. Perfect.
Ah, contentment. If I could just also manage the very important Ec midterm on Thurday, the Justice response paper on Kant also due Thursday, the seminar essay due Sunday and my big French paper due next Monday (*fear*). Eep.

In other news, my OFA application was accepted. More happiness – who can object to free money? And I got my first official research assistant job, my first true foray into academia. Very exciting. Also, over the past two days I cut about three or four inches of my hair off the front and sides, but noone seems to have noticed 🙂
One week till Sanders
October 29th, 2005 by MrLuxuryFashionGuruTaken aboard the SIA non-stop flight from New York to Singapore. I was standing in the little open area they have at the back of the plane for guests to stretch their legs and get a snack, and I was trying to read some Rawls (reading in my seat meant that I fell alseep every few lines or so) so I raised the window shade to see if I could get more light. That was when I was greeted by this glorious sight of Canada or Alsaka (?) and hurried to get my camera.

Today I dragged myself up at about 8.30am so I could meet Asya for breakfast and ended up eating with Millie, and later Devon, as well. I managed to get through the French reading that’s been making me feel guilty which is nice, but the rest of the day was sucked up by Dins rehearsal. The concert is in exactly a week and we’re not exactly close to being ready yet. Very tiring. I should be spending the evening reading or writing, but instead I’m going to the HRO concert with Wojtek, and to make sure I don’t fall asleep then, I’m going to take a nap now.
Also, we have officially skipped autumn and gone straight to winter. It’s only October, and we’ve had our first big snowfall. Not only have the trees yet to lose their leaves, most of the trees are still green! It’s pretty, but a bit early in the year.
Is it really only Saturday?
October 29th, 2005 by MrLuxuryFashionGuruDrat, my free day is over. I want another Friday!!
Today I read some Gov (about a quarter of what I wanted to do) and some French (about a third what I wanted to do), I also did a HBS study (that made me $40 in about 20 minutes!) and edited a chapter for my new job (exciting!). But that’s pretty much all I did, and I have so many things left that need to be done by Monday. And all of you should know what Mondays are like around here…. for me at least.
Friday night was spent serendipitously with Kieran, whom I love dearly. We had made plans to see various shows this evening, all of which fell through, so we ended up just hanging out together and chatting. We had dinner at Pho, where I finally ate something different, and then we had dessert and tea at Finale, which I’ve actually never sat down at before. Those were some good times. We managed to talk about some serious things while also laughing so hard at the amusing things we said to each other (which may or may not have weirded out the people sitting next to us). At the end of the night I kind of thought it was about 9.30pm, but it turned out to be nearly midnight. Which made me feel bad for flaking out on Jon, and also kind of bad that I had taken up Kieran’s entire evening when she had gotten calls from her blockmates to hang out with them. But I had fun, and she says she did too, so it’s all good. I’m going to be so sad when she goes to Paris.
And then I came home and had a nice chat with Ryan, which chased away my fatigue, and during which I got to share a little secret, which was very satisfying. That was great for me because I dislike having personal secrets, but I also hate having honesty bite me in the behind. I trust Ryan and I *love* being able to trust people with so much confidence (I normally trust people anyway, but without as much certainty as to whether my trust is ill-founded). Like I expounded randomly to Kieran (I do these convoluted monologues far too often), honesty and frankness are very important values of mine (tempered by good sense, respect and tact, of course).

Tomorrow I have to get work done. I am *afraid* for next week.

October 28th, 2005 by MrLuxuryFashionGuruOk, I’m testing a new, less labor-intensive way of sharing photos, so bear with me while I fiddle with it….
