About Me

I’m currently a PhD student and Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham (UK), in the Gkoutos group, and at a PhD student at the Mammalian Genetics Unit at MRC Harwell in the Mallon group. We are a group of computational biologists and bioinformaticians from various backgrounds, working on basic and translational research. I’m writing up my PhD, which involves finding genes which contribute to sleep and circadian related behaviors in multiple species, and exploring the relationship between mental and developmental disorders and gene function.

I’m an American living in the UK, and travel back and forth quite a bit; I still haven’t travelled as much as I wish but hopefully that will change soon! I love to cook, enjoy gaming, like to walk/hike, and am attempting yoga to help stave off a totally sedentary existence while working from home!
