Acceptable ways to present Harvard Extension Degrees on resume

December 17, 2008 | Comments Off on Acceptable ways to present Harvard Extension Degrees on resume

So, some of you aspiring Harvard Extension students and employers emailed me, what does the extension degree look like? I figured it’s better to write a post about this so everyone – people I know and people I don’t know, can benefit from this information.

The Harvard Extension website provided some guidelines as to what is acceptable and what is unacceptable.

Acceptable:

Harvard University, Master of Liberal Arts (link) – OK
Harvard University, Master of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies (link) – OK

Harvard University Extension School, Master of Liberal Arts in Management (link) – OK

Unacceptable:

Harvard University, Master of Arts (link) – misrepresentation, as the degree is not AM, it’s ALM. Same way you can’t claim you have an AM when you have an MBA.
