A Fresh Start?

Here I am…33 years old. This photo was taken last night after Matt treated me to a scrumptious meal in the North End. I’m holding an individual size cake with a Harry Potter candle (Matt got himself a brownie instead). YUM!

So, I’m still optimistic for the new year, but I’m concerned that the thunder/lightning that I woke up to yesterday wasn’t symbolic of change. Or, since I went to sleep last night to even more thunder/lightning, does that mean I’ve I’ve come full circle and am back in bad-luck mode again? Did I only get 18 hours of change?

I hope that’s not the case. Actually, I’m fairly sure that’s not the case because I found out yesterday (between those two thunder storms) that the friend of mine that was hospitalized last week has a tumor in her lymph nodes (sp?) and that they’re going to start an immediate and aggressive chemo/radiation/surgery program. Ugh. It seems like everybody I come into contact with lately is getting sick (3 cancers, 1 depression, numerous viral infections and 1 life-threatening yet undiagnosable disease).

On the plus side, one of the breast cancer survivors is joining me and Matt tonight to go see “Oklahoma” at the Colonial Theatre. I’ve never seen it, but I hear it’s hokey. I could use some hokey!

Oklahoma is good clean fun, you’ll enjoy it! And, you’ll be learning a little bit about the founding of MY state!

(The musical Oklahoma should not be treated as historical fiction. It is a wildly inaccurate representation of the current state of affairs in Oklahoma as we rarely break out into song and dance. I’m not saying we don’t ever do that…we just do it very rarely.)

Happy Birthday Karl! I love thunders and lightning myself…

Welcome your new ‘birth’ with open arms. It’s all about one’s attitude I think! 🙂
