Dealing with VD

No! I’m not talking about a venereal disease (My Tracy’s a clean teen). I’m talking about Valentine’s Day. Yep – I survived the day mostly unscathed even though it was the first Valentine’s Day in 11 years that I didn’t have a “valentine”. No flowers. No candy. No dinner. No card. No kiss. Not even a phone call or email. Nada.

I just worked all day and went to class at night. Thank you, Hallmark, for making me feel like a leper.

Oh! And to top it off, I got my first paper back for one of my classes and I got a B! Shit! That’s the lowest grade I’ve received at Harvard. I’ve completed 8 classes so far and the lowest grade I’ve ever recieved was an A-minus. My goal was to graduate with all A’s…but at this rate, I’m not so sure that’s going to be possible anymore.

Making matters worse, this was a fluff paper! Since class just started 3 weeks ago, it was simply a 3 page paper explaining my existing knowledge of higher education. He was basing the grade more on the format and my ability to make concise statements. Content wasn’t the key factor.

That makes it even more degrading. Not only am I not smart, but I’m apparently illiterate, too. YAY ME!

Dammit – it was Valentine’s Day…where’s the love?

*one of my favorite quotes from John Waters’ movie “Hairspray” when Tracy is accused of having roaches in her hair.

Oh, you should have come to our lonely-hearts dinner – good food & watching cute boy skaters and hot boy skiers! 😉

Hmmmm: several comments ago you mentioned that you were still trying to figure out a current involvement. If there were no tangible signs of affection on Valentine’s Day, perhaps that’s a sign.

Look, don’t let Hallmark rain all over your parade. You don’t go apoplectic on Father’s Day because you don’t have kids do you? No! Plus you have been not very keen to commit, so maybe the members of your harem are listening and decided to leave you the hell alone yesterday. You have to know you are loved, you big B earning dope. (Maybe the prof. recently learned your middle name via your blog fame and it was a reference, eh?) xoxox

Not to worry about it … smart or stupid (I think you’re smart), A- or B (I still think you’re smart), Valentine’s Day or not … we all still love you! Since Karyn set the standard … here you go xoxox 🙂

So you’re smart Karl, don’t be silly. Can’t worry too much about your ‘B’, it’s not the grade, it’s the effort innit?
