Beginning June 10, on what would have been Sendak’s 85th birthday, that collection will go on display at the Society of Illustrators in New York. The exhibit, containing more than 200 previously unpublished studies, sketches, and ephemera, will run through August 17. Every piece is from Schiller’s collection.

Oh, I so wish I was able to go and see this 🙁 He was a wonderful man! Hopefully the exhibition, or a version of it, will come to the UK some day.
And my wish is that this show visits Southern California…Sendak is my inspiration! And now Blessings to Justin Schiller for being a mentor and muse to Maurice! Thank you!
Sometimes I think I’m the only person/kid in the world that was completely creeped out by those stories.
It’s not really a complaint about them. It’s just a simple fact of how I felt. Oh well. I also felt the same way about H.R. Pufnstuf and the gang with that talking flute. I guess I wasn’t normal and the things that appealed to most kids didn’t work on me. (Shivers still!)

JUSTIN SCHILLER WAS NOT, NOT, NOT A MENTOR TO MAURICE. HE’S A SNAKE AND NOTHING SHORT OF THE WORD! PEOPLE IN SENDAK’S CAMP TRIED TO STOP THIS SHOW BECAUSE HOW MUCH OF A DISTASTE THEY HAVE FOR SCHILLER’S DEALINGS!
