2 things struck me as peculiar about America.

First, giving money to corporations is extremely easy. Maybe it’s the pervasive cashless systems. Maybe it is the ubiquitous bold type ‘buy’ or ‘donate’ button on websites.  The draw of unthinking consumerism is strong.

Second, there is great variety of choices, from supermarkets to bookstores to virtually everywhere where money can be spent. This wide range is intensified by the attractive display of ware.

These 2 factors have made me spend more. And made me think: Americans would spend more, save less and probably yearn to earn more; so amid the constant battle talk of racial inequality, the unspoken social divide is really a simple economic one.

Finally in the US after years of watching her on TV. Only to realise that people here are no different from back home. Same issues, same politics, same motivations. In fact I can assign a Singaporean namesake to every one I meet here.

Okay, maybe there are more smart people in the environment I am in.

Or is there as many smart people back home, cause my judgement is necessarily perceptual.

And where is me here?

Really wonder.
