Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992. This means that she will be turning sixteen years old this year and at this early stage of her life she is already an accomplished singer, songwriter and most notably an actress.
Cyrus was born in the state of Tennessee and her father was Billy Ray Cyrus, a somewhat notable country singer. Her roots for performance therefore go back genetically, which perhaps explains why she was able to get involved in the performing arts from a very young age and seemingly excel at them right off the bat with very few problems in that regard.
Interestingly enough, Miley was named Destiny Hope by her parents because they expected that she would be able to accomplish great things in her life and for the short amount of time that she has been alive, she has been very impressive in what she has been able to accomplish.
Cyrus’ interest in acting can be traced back to when the family moved to Toronto and briefly lived in the largest Canadian city. At that point, her father had a television series named Doc that she guest starred on as a girl named Kylie and that represented her first introduction to acting. She would later go on to play her first full role as Young Ruthie in Big Fish and she also appeared in a music video for Rhonda Vincent around that same point in time.
While all of these were good steps forward, they were really nothing compared to what happened when she auditioned for Disney in the roles of friend and lead for their upcoming series Hannah Montana. When she originally auditioned for the roles she was eleven years old and was rejected for being too small.
However, her persistence in wanting the role eventually paid off and Disney brought her to additional auditions in the wake of her twelfth birthday. According to a senior executive at Disney, the reason Cyrus was chosen for the role was due to her zest for life; something that they wanted to come across in the series when it was aired.
The rest, as they say, is history. Cyrus played lead character Miley Stewart who also happens to have an alternate identity as Hannah Montana, who is one of the biggest pop music sensations in the show. Not only was Cyrus able to get big time screen credits for her role as the lead in this series, but she was also able to appear as Hannah Montana in different concerns and thus was able to launch a singing career through playing this singing sensation on stage. Both of these events have effectively made her career and allowed her to explode onto the scene in a way that very few other people have been able to accomplish in their performing arts careers.
According to Disney executive Gary Marsh, Cyrus has the “everyday reliability of Hilary Duff and the stage presence of Shania Twain.” This young sensation has an extremely promising career ahead of her, not to mention an enviable one already behind.
